Soli from Google ATAP

Soli is a new sensing technology that uses miniature radars to detect touchless gesture interactions. Soli understands human motions at various scales: from the tap of your finger to the movements of your body. The sensor tracks sub-millimeter motion at high speeds with great accuracy and can perform tasks with ease. You can now find Soli’s “motion sense” technology with the release of the Google Pixel 4.

While at Selman Design, I worked with our design team as well as various teams at Google, going through rigorous rounds of logo exploratory to hone in on creating the final identity for Soli. The mark is inspired by the directorial movements that a maestro makes when conducting his or her orchestra, an apt metaphor in describing the power to more organically control a multitude of interactions with technology.
